Currently, the organization is looking for a qualified, experienced, and
self-motivated person to fill in the following vacant post:

Job Title:
Climate Justice and Gender Engagement Coordinator – 1 post
Workstation: Dodoma
Reports to: Programs and Partnership Manager
Department: Programs
Duration: 5 months (with a possibility for extension subject to approval of the Project performance by the funder)

Job Role:
To
coordinate Climate Resilient livelihoods/food system and social
movements of young people in the face of climate change in Tanzania as
per the Country Strategic Paper V (CSP) and SIF 2
Key Responsibilities

  • Strengthen
    the generation of evidence on climate impacts at local and national
    levels, share knowledge on climate resilient best practices, and support
    evidence-based advocacy for climate justice while promoting and
    supporting learning across our programmes, teams, and partners at
    national and Great Lakes Region.
  • Stimulate innovative actions
    for climate resilience to AATZ and partners, introducing best practices
    from within and outside AA, and building on our existing portfolio,
    experience, and comparative advantage.
  • Coordinate the
    development of strategies on Resilient livelihoods, climate justice
    campaign nexus to humanitarian programs with focus on working with
    social movement and young people under the guidance of the Program and
    Partnership Manager
  • Develop annual plan and budget for the TIF Project and ensure its effective implementation.
  • Support relevant partners/young people/social movement in planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Project.
  • Ensure
    the Project is inline Fluman Rights Based Approach (HRBA) at all levels
    and develop the capacity of partners/young people towards this end.
  • Facilitate policy analysis and advocacy at local national and regional level to influence climate related policies.
  • Coordinate
    partner organizations, youth groups/social movement and relevant
    stakeholders towards effective implementation of TIF Project
  • Undertake
    periodic monitoring and review of Climate resilient livelihoods,
    humanitarian and youth engagement at national level and local level.

    build relation with potential donors to ensure resource sustainability
    for the project/program.

Essential Experience:

  • At least 4 years minimum working experience in the social development fields with NGO/INGO Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s
    degree in environmental science, Climate Change, General Agriculture,
    Development Studies, or any related Social Sciences discipline from a
    recognized institution. Master’s degree in mentioned courses is an added
    advantage.
  • Trainings on Climate justice/Climate change. Project
    planning and management, Human Rights Based Approach, Participatory
    approaches and methodologies. Climate Resilient Sustainable Agriculture
    (CRSA), Monitoring and evaluation, Gender and Climate Change, Outcome
    Harvest

Essential

  • Knowledge
    & Skills: In – depth skills/innovations on Climate Resilient
    Sustainable Agriculture (CRSA), Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and
    other alternatives for sustainable food system and energy
  • In-depth
    understanding of how local and national government operates development
    programs with focus on livelihoods programs, governance and
    accountably, youth issues as well as policy advocacy work at local,
    national, and international levels.

Regional Roving Climate Justice Advisor

Job Title: Regional Roving Climate Justice Advisor – 1 post
Workstation: Tanzania
Reports to: Country Director
Department: Programs
Duration: 1 year and 6 months

Job Role:

To
facilitate the improvement and execution of Strategic Objective 2 (S02)
activities and the collaboration with the climate justice global
program, as well as for enhancing and expanding the climate justice
program in AA Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda with a focus on meaningful
youth involvement. The position will offer strategic guidance to the SPA
II program on enhancing climate change resilience through capacity
building, research, advocacy, and the provision of technical support
using shared tools, methodologies, and frameworks and support in linking
to broader regional and global initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mentor, coach, and support the ActionAid Tanzania, ActionAid Uganda,
    ActionAid Kenya SPA II Climate Justice focal and the Global Platforms on
    climate justice programming, research and advocacy.
  • Support
    ActionAid Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya SPA II local partners on climate
    justice programming and advocacy, linking issues from local, national,
    regional, and global levels, in coordination with the climate justice
    global program.
  • Strengthen AATZ. Uganda and Kenya’s engagement
    with stakeholders and support in building networks and alliances for
    broader policy and advocacy engagement at national and regional levels.
  • Support
    young people in Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya through the GPs to develop
    robust climate justice advocacy tools/strategy including analysis and
    development of position papers and policy briefs for dissemination.
  • Provide
    capacity building for ActionAid Tanzania, ActionAid Uganda, ActionAid
    Kenya SPA II Climate Justice focal and the Global Platforms on climate
    financing, just energy transition, climate adaptation programming, human
    rights-based approaches, gender justice, and beyond, in coordination
    with the climate justice global program.
  • Provide capacity
    building for young people through their localized youth hubs and SPA 2
    program partners on climate justice, climate resilience programming and
    alternatives through workshops, webinars, and public.
  • events to engage the public in discussions about climate justice and sustainable development.
  • Conduct
    research and policy analysis to assess relevant climate justice issues
    at national and regional levels and propose evidence-based solutions.
  • Support ActionAid Tanzania. Uganda, and Kenya to develop advocacy mechanisms for linkages with private sector on green jobs.

Essential Experience:

  • At
    least 5 years’ experience leading climate justice programmes and
    advocacy work with an IIRBA and intersectional feminist approach.
  • Proven experience in campaigning and advocacy engagement with government agencies
  • Experience in analysing global development issues including climate change, food security, corporate abuse etc.
  • Fundraising and resource mobilization experience & working with communities. Education Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in social sciences or arts/humanities, master’s degree in environmental sciences/climate change.

Essential Knowledge:

  • Deep
    knowledge of the key actors and institutions, the power dynamics
    involved – with a critical understanding of how ActionAid Tanzania,
    ActionAid Uganda and ActionAid Kenya can play its roles most
    effectively.
  • Comprehensive and progressive understanding of
    international climate justice issues, including both historical and
    contemporary debates in the EA region.
  • Ecofeminism or gender and climate expertise & knowledge
  • High
    level strategic thinker able to challenge dominant paradigms and build
    progressive, rights-based alternatives, translating these into
    coherently framed practical advocacy programmes, from very local to
    regional/global levels.
